Red Avadavat

Amandava amandava

The bird is a Red Avadavat (Amandava amandava), locally called Lal Munia. This sparrow-sized finch features deep crimson-red plumage speckled with tiny white spots on its flanks and wings, paired with a bright red cone-shaped bill. In Bangladesh, this resident bird is found in open grasslands, tall reedbeds, and sugarcane fields near wetlands, mostly across the northern and central riverine plains.
