Black-headed Ibis

Threskiornis melanocephalus

The bird is a Black-headed Ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus), locally called Kalo-matha Kastechora. It is distinguished by its white body plumage contrasting sharply with a naked black head, neck, and a long, down-curved kaste-like bill. In Bangladesh, it is a resident waterbird commonly found wading across coastal mudflats, estuaries, mangrove margins, and large wetlands nationwide.
