Glossy Ibis

Plegadis falcinellus

The bird is a Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus), locally called Khoyra Kastechora. This medium-sized wading bird features dark reddish-brown plumage with a glossy, metallic green and purple sheen on its wings, paired with a long, down-curved bill. In Bangladesh, it is a winter migratory waterbird commonly found foraging in shallow marshes, haors, beels, and coastal mudflats nationwide.
