White-rumped Munia

Lonchura striata

The bird is a White-rumped Munia (Lonchura striata), locally called Kalo-mukh Munia. This tiny finch is distinguished by its dark brown body, a black face and breast, a stubby silver-grey bill, and a contrasting white rump band. In Bangladesh, this common resident bird can be seen foraging in small flocks within open woodlands, grasslands, scrub, and cultivation areas nationwide.
