Western Hoolock Gibbon

Hoolock hoolock

The animal is a Western Hoolock Gibbon (Hoolock hoolock), locally called Ulluk. This endangered, tailless ape features long arms, a jet-black body (typical of males), and prominent white eyebrows. In Bangladesh, this strictly tree-dwelling primate can be seen only within the mixed evergreen forests of Sylhet (like Lawachara and Satchari) and the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
