Five-striped Palm Squirrel

Funambulus pennantii

The animal is a Five-striped Palm Squirrel (Funambulus pennantii), locally called Katberali. This small rodent features a grayish-brown coat with five distinct, pale longitudinal stripes along its back, a bushy tail, and a creamy-white underside. In Bangladesh, this highly active resident is commonly seen nationwide climbing trees, walls, gardens, and urban parks.
