Indian Spot-billed Duck

The bird is an Indian Spot-billed Duck (Anas poecilorhyncha), locally called Deshi Metethat Has. It is a large, non-migratory dabbling duck distinguished by its scaly-patterned body, a pale head with dark stripes, and a black bill featuring a striking, bright yellow tip. In Bangladesh, it is a common resident waterbird that can be seen swimming in freshwater lakes, haors, beels, and large rivers nationwide.
