Grey Heron

Ardea cinerea

The flock consists of Great Egrets (Ardea alba), Intermediate Egrets (Ardea intermedia), and a Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), locally called Boro Bok, Majhari Bok, and Kalo Kank. These large, elegant waders are silhouetted against a golden sunrise. In Bangladesh, these resident and migratory waterbirds are commonly found wading in shallow wetlands, haors, beels, and floodplains nationwide.
